The reason for my interest in taking Mandarin lessons is for career advancement. In order to get to where I need to be I must be able to speak Mandarin. I have taken a Mandarin course before in university, however it wasn't very effective. My proficiency level would be beginner. Although, I have been self teaching myself the language for a year, but I still cannot speak it with confidence.
I have always wanted to learn the language ever since I watched Japanese animation. That encourages me to be an animator for my career. I think the Japanese culture is truly amazing. I would like to visit Japan someday and maybe work there too.
The area I need improvement is proper grammar.
The amount of time to dedicate my language lessons would be as much as possible, but hopefully only a few months to a year depending how quickly I can pick it up.
Qualities I am looking for in my lessons or in my teacher, I would perfer a teacher who is Japanese so I will be able to learn slang and speak the language properly. This will hopefully put more quality into the lessons for me.
