I'm a recent college grad, with an intermediate knowledge of Chinese. I want to continue the studies I started in China, and am willing to dedicate several hours a week to actual class time (weekend or early evenings). I'm looking for a teacher that can give me the direction and conversationa l practice I need to overcome my 'mushy mouth' and tone errors.
I also want a memorization and drill method to acquire the 3500 most essential characters in simplified Chinese. My teacher should be able to meet during non-tradition al work hours, be very strict about proper pronunciation , and be prepared to help me unlearn some sloppy grammar.

My level would be a beginner, I am Indian so I feel like I should learn the language it should be a part of me. I am a beginner and have never taken any courses to learn. My fiance is Swedish and there is nothing else I would rather do than learn to speak Swedish so I can speak with his family and friends when I go visit and when they come to Boston for our wedding next year. I've studied mandarin chinese for almost 2 years. I plan to go to China in late summer / early fall of 2005. I would like to spend this summer improving my conversation skillss -- speaking and listening. I can dedicated 3 to 5 hours a week for one-on-one study. My goal is to be able to more quickly and efficiently hold conversations on various subjects -- meal time conversation, likes and dislikes, personal interests, personal history, business and culture. I have a fair vocabulary; and I understand the basic grammer rules. However, speaking doesn't come naturally, and I have a terrible time understanding mandarin spoken to me. I'm looking for a teacher who can improvise in conversation, drill me on common conversation exchanges, enhance my vocabulary, correct my mistakes and offer some new colloqial expressions. Need classes/lesso ns right away! I am a beginner who currently is going over basic vocabulary through online tools. I real am excited about spending a semester aboard in Rome, and would like to really adapt to the Italian way of life. I would like to be able to communicate well with native Italian. I am willing to put forth all my effort in the next three months to really concentrate on learning Italian. I would like to meet at least once a week or more for lessons/week starting as soon as possible.
