I' d love to spend 3-4 hours twice a week.
I want someone who is skilled as a teacher, patient, and intelligent. I am determined to make progress quickly, and would like someone serious about teaching who can have fun too.
I have a Macintosh computer and use the program 'eyesight', which would make teaching via computer easy, but this is not a requirement.

I am essentially a beginning learner, because I have not taken any formal classes. However, I have studied on my own and have interacted with native mandarin speakers. I not been committed to learing from random people at work because I don't want to disturb or annoy them. I do respond well to structure, so this seemed a great idea. Because I am in science/acade mia, a larger portion of the people that I interact with are Chinese. I would like to communicate with them in their native language. I know the basics of Mandarin, but need to increase my vocabulary and would also like to read/write chinese. I would be able to devote 1 night a week and 1 day of the weekend to my studies. Experienced teachers would be preferred, but i learned a bit from the random people in the lab, so I can probably learn from anyone.

I would say I am an 'advanced beginner'. I have some familiarity with Cantonese Chinese from (a) self-study and (b) having married into a family speaking Cantonese.
My interest in learning Cantonese is both a general interest in languages and a home, family and friends interest.
I need actual conversation practice, a resource for phrases, vocabulary and pronunciation work. On one hand, I need a conversation partner, and on the other, I need a language resource. I'm not a star language student; my language abilities are mediocre, so I especially need work in the comprehension area.
I would hope to be able to meet twice a week for an hour or half-hour session. Study time outside of this will vary - depending on work, family, etc.
Since I am not in a class, I need someone who is a bit flexible - so that we can, if needed, shift from conversation work to my questions to the tutor about phrases or language items that I am trying to understand. In effect, I would paying for someone to talk to me in the language, and also to answer my questions about the language.

I can understand and speak a little bosnian and I have a slight grasp of the grammer. I would like to learn the language to be able to communicate with my friends and their parents. I would like to mostly use this language for communication so that would be the focus of my learning. I would be able to dedicate one-two hours per lesson up to 5 days per week. However since I live on my own, I have a very limited budget. I would like a teacher who is helpful, talks with the student not at them, nice, and likes to have fun while learning.
