I am currently studying for an Asian Studies degree through Open Learning Australia and I have successfully completed four (4) Standard Chinese (Mandarin)sub jects. Although I was able to do this I feel that my proficiency level is only at a beginners stage as I have not had the opportunity to have any direct conversation with anybody.
I wish to learn another language (Chinese) as it will enhance my work options within my career.
I wish to start with only one lesson per week in a private capacity.
I am looking for a teacher that will be able to not only teach me conversation but will provide cultural awareness as well.

My proficiency level in reading and writing would be beginner. I do know how to speak mandarin, though not fantastic.
I want to learn mandarin because I was born in China, came to Australia at the age of 8 and now at the age of 32, I am eager to learn how to read and write mandarin for future travel and work reasons.
I would like to study mandarin with a tutor, 2 hours per week.
I would prefer a female teacher from China, teach me to read and write during our lessons and give me set tasks to study at home.

More than a beginner but still don't understand some beginner concepts. Teaching self by books, internet and audio program but teaching yourself often teaches bad habits which I may have done :-) I am learning mandarin because it fascinates me and I am looking for probably an hour a week to supplement my personal study. I don't mind what sort of teacher I have as long as they are friendly.
