I have always been interested in languages and I admire multilingual people. My main interests are Japanese and Tagalog. I have always been intrigued by the beauty of the Japanese language. I would also like to learn French and Spanish (for career advancement).
I am a beginner in all of these languages. I have learned a few things in Japanese on my own (numbers, days of the week, greetings).
I would like to delicate at least 2-3 nights/days a week to learning.
The qualities I'm looking for in a teacher are someone who can give me the patience I need, although I am a quick learner.

I am a PhD student based in London, and I will be conducting fieldwork and research in the Philippines in 2011-2012. I am looking for an opportunity to study Tagalog in the Philippines in August-Septem ber 2010 in order to establish a basic proficiency in the language. I am a total beginner, although I am currently studying independently in the UK, and I will be looking to focus in particular on conversationa l language. I will be in the Philippines for around 1 month after 19th August 2010, though I would be happy to begin lessons by email before this or continue them afterwards. While in the Philippines, I would like to dedicate as much time as possible to lessons, though this can obviously be negotiated. I am particularly interested in one-on-one or small group lessons.
