I live in Sydney, Australia, and will be performing in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival from 1-25 August. During this time I would like to take beginners lessons in Japanese in anticipation of a trip to Japan in April 2013. I would like face-to-face lessons, preferably very near the centre of Edinburgh, probably for two one-hour sessions per week.
I also speak Spanish (high/interme diate proficiency) and German (low/intermed iate). I love languages, linguistics, and grammar. I'm also a classical clarinetist and singer.

I am currently in Beijing working, and whilst here I started beginner Mandarin lessons. When I return back to scotland ina few weeks' time I would like to continue to develop my Mandarin skills in the hope that I will return to China next year for at least 5 months. As stated I am currently at beginner level, however I have a grasp of very basic conversation and tones etc, but no knowledge/exp erience of reading characters as yet. I am looking to be tought Mandarin in a general sense, to learn to communicate effectively with others in Chinese. I am unsure of how often I would like lessons, but I can imagine it being a couple of hours (2-3 hours) per week or something similar. I am looking for a teacher who has a passion for language and who will be patient and understanding during my lessons, and most importantly I'd like them to be fun!

I am pretty much an entire beginner with some understanding of verb structure and some short phrases - but not more than this.
I am moving to Portugal for employment in a week's time and want to build the best support network I can to achieve comfort in the language as quickly as possible.
I work in football coaching and communication is supposed to be my skill - but I need the words!
