Hi,
My name is Mejed El-Dan, I was born and raised in sydney, australia. My parents are Lebanese, and we do speak Arabic in the house. I can understand Arabic, however sometimes have dramas with fas'ha arabic.
I can NOT read and write and this is my MAJOR downfall when it comes to Arabic. ALSO - my accent is 100% north lebanese.
I am a NSW State Police Officer and utilise Arabic every single day at work, wether i am interpreting, translating or speaking with people from arab backgrounds that can not speak english.
i plan on coming to lebanon about late jun to late august 2005, and plan on studying arabic for about 6 weeks out of that time.
i need to work on arabic fas'ha, reading and writing. i would LOVE to be able to understand the arabic in the newspapers and on tv. this is what i want to achieve most.
I suppose the qualitites that i am looking for in a teacher, would be patience with my nth leb accent!! it is very trabulsi. a bit of a sense of humour to brighten the lessons up a little. other than that, im fairly easy going and just look forward mainly to applying what i learn in the class room to the street.
