I am a beginner in Chinese Manadarin. I am an artist living in Chongqing for a year or more.
I need to learn Chinese for practical everyday communication and specifically to communicate efficiently with my gallery here, with whom I have a three year contract.

I am a student with no experience with Chinese, but a strong desire to learn the language. I have quite a bit of free time this summer before I start law school and decided that a good way to spend this time would be to begin to learn a new language. With that in mind, I started researching international economies on the rise. Obviously China came up. Learning the language seems like a perfect investment. My law school also has an exchange program in Beijing that I would like to take part in at some point.
While I likely won't have time throughout the coming school year to continue taking classes, I plan to start again the following summer. I understand that you need practice to stay sharp, but with the first year of law school coming up, that's the best I can do for now.
