Beginner: I know hiragana and katakana.
Why I am learning:
I would like to be able to communicate with friends from Japan in their native tongue. There are also works of literature, movies, anime, and manga I wish to read untranslated.
Areas for improvement:
Everything.
Time:
Depen ds on the season. I think that at least an hour a day is doable.
Qu alities in teacher:
I'd prefer someone who is a native speaker. I want to learn properly the first time without having to backtrack in the future.

I am a beginner level student. I am interested in learning because of both my long time admiration of the japanese culture, country, and people as well as I am planning to visit Japan in the coming months and would like to go with some basic knowledge of the language so that I might completely emerse myself in the country.
