I would like to learn Amharic for many reasons. First, we are going to adopt a son from Ethiopia and this is his language. He will be between 3 and 4 when he comes to live in the US and has a vocabulary of several hundred words. I want to be able to understand what he says and help him to retain his native language as he learns English.
S econd, I would like to be able to communicate with his current caregivers and with others as we travel in Ethiopia.

I am moving to Ethiopia in the summer and I need to learn the language. I am a beginner. I am willing to meet 1-2 hours a day, 5-7 days a week. I am not looking for any qualities in my lessons or teacher I just need to learn as much as I can before summer, the whole language if possible.

I want to get back to learning Amharic because I studied it at the university and I think it is a beautiful and interesting language.
I estimate I am a low-intermedi ate/intermedia te level student.
I especially need to get better at understanding the spoken language, but am in fact interested in improving all possible aspects.
I would like to have one online lesson every one or two weeks.
I would like my teacher to know how to teach a language - what I mean is that you can be a native speaker and yet not know how to explain the language's rules etc.
