Description |
Beginner level learner. Wanting to learn basics of the Japanese language prior to attending a year of High School abroad in Japan. Student is very motivated and willing to put in the time required to learn. Taking classes during the school year is difficult because of current homework load, but we are very interested in summer classes and possibly continuing through next school year, depending on time commitments. The most important quality in a teacher is someone who can be flexible with their teaching style to accommmodate different learning styles. We are interested in someone who is passionate about teaching and can offer insights into the Japanese culture as well as just the language.

I'm not exactly sure what to write here, haha. I want to learn japanese and done about all I can by myself. I find most anything japanese very interesting - culture, history, language, ect. I think I understand the sentence structure pretty well but I could be wrong as I have no one to tell me if I'm right or wrong. I would like to atleast be as proficient as a native japanese student finishing high school. Any time I can have a lesson I would like to use, and would be willing to work around a schedual if need be. Preferably someone who has been to Japan and knows it well cause I have lots of questions but honestly anyone who knows the language well enough to teach it.

I would probably grade myself low-intermedi ate-intermedia te. I have alot of study experience with Kanji ( ~1000) or so. and I've read a few JFPB books(Japanes e for Busy People), well read through the first 2, and am currently on the 3rd volume. I can't really say why I'm interested in it, I just am. As for as time dedication, I am willing to go as far as I need to go, but finding someone near me to tutor has been the fallback, and the purpose of the tutor is for the speaking portion. I can squeeze all the Kanji and grammar into my head on my own, but without someone to use it on, it's just random knowledge in my head. The only thing I ask of the tutors is patience, because I ask alot of questions and that's because I want to make 100% sure I understand something before moving on.

I have been self studying Japanese for about three months now. So I am still a beginner. I'm learning the Japanese language because I want to major in it and get a B.A. in Japanese. I want to become an interpreter one day so I think i should start preparing at an early age. I don't know how much time is expected per each class session but i would guess around three times a week or more if possible. I'm looking for myself to build a stronger vocabulary and learn more kanji. I would also like to review on the hiragana and katakana that i self studied on lately. I would like the teacher to be able to have the ability to explain and break down a sentence to a point where I can be able to see the literal translation and then the meaning of a sentence. That would be really great if I could learn from a teacher like that who knows how to use many different sentence patterns and then be able to explain it thoroughly to me.
