My proficiency into Tagalog is minimal. I recognize words and know key phrases. However, I would not feel comfortable traveling to the Philippines by myself. I want to learn Tagalog because it is my parent's native language. I am the only member in my family who is not proficient at Tagalog. I want to be able to speak and write in Tagalog. My goal is to visit family in the Philippines. Many members of my family in the Philippines do not speak English. I want to be independent of a translator when I visit.
What I am looking for....privat e lessons once a week, teacher with background in teaching, experienced traveler to the Philippines.

I just moved to Manila, and are going to stay here for atleast 3 yeas, maybe for the rest of my life, i want to learn the language here, but is absolutly a beginner. The reason that I want to learn Tagalog, is that I would expect nothing less from a forigner in Denmark, which has decided to live there. First I would really like just to be able to make a konversation, but later the grammer is also very important. I would be able to spend 3-4 days from (8am till 13 pm) every week for the first couple of months. The qualities for my teacher, which is most important, will be that he/she is able to speak fluently english without much accent.

I am originally from Japan (male, 48yrs old), and have lived here in the Philippines for one and half years, working for a Japanese company.
I n fact, I've been speaking English for more than 30 years and used to be a highschool Englsih teacher in Japan, but I still want to be better living in the Philippines, where English is the 2nd official language.
I am also keenly interested in learning Tagalog , systematicall y from the basic grammar until I can read Tagalog newspapers, books and magazines.

I am an absolute beginner in Tagalog but i have been trying to learn a bit from textbooks.
I n January i spent two weeks in Manila at an orphanage, I'm hopefully going back next year for a longer time and i'd like to be able to communicate better with the children and workers.
I'm looking for someone who can help me weekly; i don't have that much time for learning the language but i'd be more motivated to do it if someone was helping me.
