Hi,
I would like to learn 'conversation al' Chinese (Mandarin). I currently have no experience at all in this language. I would like to learn the language because I am part Chinese, and also for my career. I would like to spend about 3 to 4 hours per week for lessons. I am looking for a teacher with experience, who makes the teaching experience exciting an who is well organized.

Hello, I was born in Toronto, Canada to two Cantonese and English-speak ing parents. I am interested in learning Mandarin because I feel that it would be an asset once I get older and find a job potentially overseas. Currently I'm still a university student (3rd year) and am hoping to pick up some of the language before I go abroad and travel and study my Master's. I am also hoping to get a job in Hong Kong next year which would require a little use of Mandarin.
I understand and know how to write and read basic Chinese, so the written aspect is not too much of a concern for me. I am however, looking for more instruction on the speaking and comprehension side. My family watches some Mandarin tv shows and movies, and so I have managed to pick up elementary phrases like 'Hello' and 'Goodbye' and the numbers as well as other important things like 'Beer please' and 'Thank you'. I am however, finding it difficult to jump past that phase into full sentences and actual thought. Any private lessons would require a lot of verbal communication . I am available in the evenings and on the weekends, but preferably at night during the weekdays.
