My proficiency level is complete beginner.
I am a frequent visitor to Hong Kong.I also used to live there when I was serving in the Army.I now feel I should be making more of an effort to converse with Chinese people in their own language.
I think conversation would be a good place to start and would dedicate as much time as was required.
th e qualities I would be looking for in my teacher would be,good communication and a relaxed and friendly manner.I think I would be slightly nervous at first as I have never attempted to learn a new language before.My friends think I am mad to be learning Chinese as they think it would be too difficult.

I am very keen to begin learning Slovak. Over the last two years I have made some very good slovak friends who have introduced me to the country, the culture and outlook. Their english proficiency levels and willingness to communicate in my native tongue have been humbling.This has given me a genuine desire to try and learn slovak.
I am wishing to learn the language for myself. I would be able to dedicate 1 evening a week and expect homework. I would hope the teacher would be one that engages my interest, motivates me with progress, allows me to make mistakes and happy is to correct them.
