I would like to learn Chinese because the culture, people, and country fascinate me. An additional benefit will be career advancement- but primarily I'd like to be able to converse comfortably and understand TV shows & movies in Chinese.
I am a beginner with no formal education in the area of learning Chinese. What I know, I picked up when I travelled to Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong in 1998.
I would like to meet at least once a week- either early morning (7am - 8am) or just after work (5:30pm - 6:30pm). I prefer groups as I learn well by listening to others.
I would like my teacher to be witty, interested in the living Chinese culture, have travelled much, and one who enjoys working with a quick learner interested in a broad range of topics including current international , business, and cultural affairs.

* I do not speak a word of Chinese, so beginner.
* Learning Chinese is out of personal interest and passion for the culture, not for career advancement, at least not in the short term.
* Objective is to be able to hold a basic conversation, introduce myself, ask basic questions
* Ideally 2 hours per week or sessions of 4 hours every two weeks, preferably on Saturday (or Sunday) but can be flexible.
* I would prefer a (female) teacher that will share information about the Chinese culture as well.
