I am 24, and have never before studied Mandarin Chinese (MC). However, I want to begin studying it relatively soon under the guidance of a private tutor, who I would prefer to meet with at least three times per week until late December. I want to learn MC, moreover, because of its importance in the fields of international law and international relations. Before November, I plan on completing and submitting applications to various schools that will allow me to pursue degrees in both. I also plan on studying MC in Beijing from January 2007 until July 2007, returning just before school starts, but would like to be at least somewhat familiar with it prior to leaving; hence, my search and desire for a private tutor.

I would like to learn Mandarin both for personal (but mainly) professional use. I do not have any clue on Mandarin language so that makes me a beginner! I would like to focus mainly on conversation for a start. I prefer to have lessons either in the weekends or late evening on weekdays.
