I am a complete beginner in Mandarin. I am fascinated by anything Chinese and have always wanted to learn the language in order to better understand the culture. Sadly I don't seem to get on too well with the audio book I have at the moment and despite awaiting another one (and grammar books!) I believe they are only aids to learning. What I really need is a teacher! Timewise, I am looking to spend about two to three hours per week learning the language with a patient teacher. Normally I pick up languages fairly easily but Mandarin is so different that help will be needed!
I am free most evenings, the occasional Saturday and every Sunday afternoon. Travel isn't a problem either, within reason!

Myself and my Husband are moving to Northern Cyprus in January 2007, and we would like to learn a some of the language before we go. We have never spoken turkish before apart from a few words taught to us by friends while on holiday there, so we would be absolute beginners to the language. We are maybe looking to do one or possibly two days a week depending on if we have to travel and how far. Ideally we would prefer the teacher to come to us, but we are willing to travel if needs be, depending on how far it is. We are aware we will not master the language fully before we live there, but are hoping to be able to communicate in shops and resturants and whilst meeting people. Hope there is a teacher out there to meet our needs.

I am an advanced begginner in Arabic- egyptian, I am in Worcester for the summer until august 30th and will then travel to Cairo for 5 months as a part of my degree.
I have already been having lessons in my home country of Denmark, but still feel the need to strengthen my language both gramatically and through conversation. I am looking at having lessons twice weekly prhaps 3 times.
I am looking to develop my conversationa l skills as the spoken arabic is the most important for my needs at present.
