After studying in Beijing for a month, I am at a beginer level. I am interested in learning mandarin as I would love to work in China one day. I need to improve my conversationa l skills as I have great difficulty with the tones. I would be looking to study for an hour to two hours a week.

I wish to learn basic Chinese (Mandarin) in order to aid my career. I have to interact with a number of people based in Taiwan and feel it would be beneficial to my career to learn the language. I would require a teacher who will teach me from a beginner's level and perhaps concentrate on business related as well as conversationa l areas. Ideally I would like to learn twice a week for an hour or more.

I live in Montreal, but I will be spending 7 weeks in Singapore (July-August 2006). I am a teacher of Geography and French who will retire in June 2007. I intend to enlist in a second master degree at the NUS in August 2007 in Southeast Asian Studies as I will be living in Singapore as of August 2007. I would like to become familiar with the Chinese language (of course at a beginners' level). I am interested in taking these courses in a group or class environment (a few students) preferably. I could consider some private turoring if I do not find a summer school environment. I am ready to dedicate quite a few hours per week.
