I am 26 and would like to start to learn Mandarin. Traditional and simplified writing as well. I have spent a few months in Taiwan and would like to go back there with a good understanding of Mandarin. However, I would like to learn more mainland (Bejing) pronunciation cause I was told that it would be more versitile. I live in Washington DC and would like someone who is nice, friendly, and patient. =) I am willing to dedicate a lot of time and I am a hard worker. Also, I do have a very limited experience with Japanese... Even though Mandarin is my focus, if I can learn more Japanese.. that would be great.

I would like to learn some basic conversationa l Mandarin so that I can converse with my martial arts instructor in his native tongue.
Asid e from the very little I picked up on a trip to China I know nothing... so you could say I'm a complete beginner.
I would like to spend an hour or two a week learning, times are flexible, any work day after 4:30 is generally good as are weekends.
I don't know of any qualities I'm looking for other then being able to educate me, I'm not a bad student so I'm guessing this will be easy...?
