I am a beginner, I work overseas and my next job is in china. I have 2 months vacation after completing the job I'm on before going back overseas. My daughter lives in las vegas, so I thought I might stay and visit and go to school. I will be arriving las vegas around August 17. I speak fairly well spanish and have been a supervisor in my field for 20 years. I know what words besides normal conversation will be useful to me in my profession.

I am a beginner in learning Mandarin Chinese but would like to learn it as it is one of the most widely spoken languages. This would also help me in career developement as I am in the Coast Guard and occasionally come across Mandarin speakers. I would be willing to dedicate 3-5 hrs a week to lessons. Qualities I look for in a teacher is someone that can teach practical uses of the language instead of just text book grammar and is someone younger who I can relate to better.
