I am a student at UBC in Vancouver. My parents have just moved to Vietnam, I have been there once before and will be visiting them at Christmas. I would like to impress them with minimal knowledge of the Vietnamese language when I visit. I am looking to take lessons in Vietnamese, preferably something along the lines of 3 hours a week from the beginning September to December. I understand that vietnamese is a difficult language to learn, but I already speak 4 languages fluently (English, French, German and Spanish) so hopefully I should have a feeling for it even if it is completely different. I am used to sitting down and studying hard to learn a new language.

I am just beginning to learn Vietnamese. I want to learn Vietnamese because I have a son whose half Vietnamese and I feel that it would be good for him to learn the language and culture of his grandmother. I really need alot of help with pronunciation , basic words, etc. I want to dedicate as much time as possible to become proficient in basic Vietnamese, so that maybe I can move on to more intermediate levels.
