Hello,
I'm new to the Miami, FL area and I have found English to be the second language in this area. For personal and professional reasons I'd like to learn to speak Spanish. I took high school Spanish but I don't remember anything. My primary goal is to be able to converse effectively. I'd like to dedicate about 4-5 hours per week to this venture and I'd like my teacher to be patient and understanding because I don't think I'm a natural linguist. However, I would like someone who is going to challenge me as much as possible because I want to learn as quickly as possible.

I am a Ph.D. candidate in Philosophy studying in the United States. I'll be spending the Fall semester (Sept. - half of Jan.) in Tijuana writing my dissertation. I hope to take advantage of my short time there to learn Spanish. I am a beginner although I took Spanish in High School and still remember some of the basic vocabulary and verb conjugations.
I would like to dedicate some time every day to learning Spanish but exactly how much time depends on how much language lessons cost. I am looking for someone with a solid command of Spanish who can help me with both grammar and conversation. But I don't necessarily need that person to have experience with Spanish as a second language.
