Hello, I hope this ad finds you in good health and spirits.
I wish to learn Mandarin; I am a beginner. My primary desire is to learn for conversation purposes. I wish to learn for personal reasons, although for career advanement would be good too.
I recently married a woman in China. She does speak some English. I traveled to China and spent time with her, her family, and her friends. The experience was awesome. I wish to return to China and would like to be able to communicate in their native language. I am also interested in learning the grammer, and how to read the characters.
My wife and I are waiting for INS to approve her visa for entry into the U.S. and that can take 12 to 18 months. During that period of time I would like to get a start on learning the language.
As far as the amount of time I can invest in the classes would be dependant upon how I take them and schedules.
I need a very patient instructor. In school I did very poorly in foreign languages, (Lack of interest,) however did ok with Latin. I am age impaired (51) and do not retain as well as I used to. Do to recent cancer treatment I am having some short-term memory problems but I am aware of them and working to resolve the problem.
A lthough I live in Yuba City, California, I am able to travel to classes in the greater Sacramento area.
