I am French Canadian and I have always had a great interest in languages. Besides French and English languages, I master Spanish language as a mother tongue, as I lived for many years in Spain. I am also a professional in language field as I am a Spanish translator, technical writer and terminologist .
Catalan
I got to understand it perfectly (oral and written)when I lived in Cataluña and Andorra. However, as I left these regions twelve years ago, I have not had the opportunity to work on this language since then. But the main point is that during my stay in the Catalan regions, I never spoke catalan... and this is something I really want to do someday.
A rabic (Lebanese)
M y husband being Lebanese, I understand some words and expressions in this language. However, I really would like to speak it and understand (oral) it well. Therefore, I am interested in learning the Lebanese oral part of that language. The teacher should teach in Gatineau (Gatineau / Hull areas).
Ma ndarin
I developped a great interest for the Oriental cultures these last years. I really would like to know more and get closer to them. I understand the first and main way to do it is by learning their language. Going to China is a dream for my husband and me, but I never would go without knowing the language. Level: not too sure
Reason: I'm Chinese Canadian. I have spent 2 years studying Mandarin at Mcgill. I spent 8 months in Beijing, China. While I was in China, I noticed my Chinese had improved by 10 folds. I came back to Canada in September of 2004. Since then, I have had a lot of trouble finding a class that is suitable for my 'in-between' level.
Areas of trouble: conversation
Time: it depends
Qualities: I learn best with repetion and constant practice. I am looking for a teacher who will provide private lessons at a reasonable cost for a student.
