Hi there,
I am interested in learning how to read, write, and speak Mandarin. I was born in Toronto and speak Hakka fluently, but cannot write or read it.
I am interested in learning Chinese because I am going China this fall for my first time. Also, I like to learn more about my culture, as I'm proud of my country. Lastly, I like to communicate in Mandarin downtown in Chinatown, restaurants etc. and be able to understand Mandarin TV shows etc.
I prefer a tutor who
1) Can creatively and uniquely communicate and teach Mandarin, reading and writing and speaking.
2) Has a knowledge of Chinese culture and history
3) Has been to China and can share helpful insights on the country, where to visit, tourist, and historical places
4) Someone down to earth, and someone who is easy going and friendly

I have taken mandarin now for two years in school, but i feel that i haven't had enough practice. I guess my level would almost be intermediate. I am not really comfortable with the language and would love extra practice and help in every aspect outside of my classes in school. I am willing to dedicate a couple of hours a week. I am in school full time and working part time, but I am willing to do what i can. I hope that my teacher has had some experience in teaching before and is easy going and patient to deal with my poor chinese. Also, i don't mind group (large or small) for my lessons.
