I am a commercial lender at HSBC and many of my clients speak Mandarin. I would like to learn the language in order to communicate with them effectively. I am a beginner and my husband is interested in learning as well, so we could take lessons and practice together. We would look at spending a couple of hours a week learning the language (besides practice time). We are looking for a patient teacher with excellent English and Mandarian skills.

I am learning Chinese because I love to learn languages and I have free time. I have taken a 72 hour course in Chinese, so I know the basics but still can't hold a conversation. My goal in taking Chinese lessons is to become fluent in speech and to be able to read any printed material easily and fluidly, including literature. I would like to take 3-5 hours of classes a week, but I am ready to do lots and lots of self study. I learn languages very easily and I want to progress as quickly as possible.
