I am a Cambridge certified native English Speaker currently teaching English in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I am in the process of learning French because, apart from loving francophone culture (a broad designation, I know), I want to move to the French Caribbean in a couple of years to teach English there.
I would classify myself as a low intermediate speaker of french. My vocabulary is dwindling, due to lack of practice, but at one time it was impressive. I can express most of want I want to say, albeit with long pauses. My spoken french is a mixed bag, sometimes it is somewhat clear, at other times, I am told, not so much. I have been introduced to some advanced tenses, but I've yet to make any real attempt at remembering any of them. I've got the simple past down for the most part, a little past continuous. My most profound weakness is my inability to understand spoken French.
I am hoping to find a native french speaker who has experience with a student-cente red approach to language instruction. I am hoping to have tenses linked to relevant productive speaking exercises that will provide more of a context for the target language than those found in workbooks than. Ultimately I hope to an acceptable language of French writing, listening and speaking ability in a period of no less than 12 - 18 months. I am willing to devote as much time to the endeavor as I can afford.
