I'd like to learn Mandarin without any special reason,
I just think languages are nice and learning a new one is wonderful.
S ince I am in Vancouver I am more confronted with the chinese culture than I am in Germany where I come from and I became interested in it.
My level is that I know nothing apart from asking *how are you?*
I work part time and would like to learn Chinese every free day I have which would be 2-5 days a week.
I'd like a native speaking teacher.

I am a female. would like to learn Mandarin in order to communicate with my Mother's side of the family. I can understand basic Hokkien (which is a dialect of chinese spoken in Malaysia) which is very different from Mandarin. However, I have the ability to hear several tones in the same 'word' and understand them as separate meanings.
I am willing to dedicate 2 hours a week to learning (and several hours of practice / homework)
I would like to do a few trial lessons and then determine a longer-term commitment after a trial period of about 4 weeks. Sunday mornings 10am-Noon at my apartment at the South End of Halifax. (-:

I am a business student looking to learn Mandarin as I want to go to China for an internship and I would like to learn as many languages as I can in my life. I have been watching Chinese movies since I am a little boy with my father who speaks Chinese but does not have time to teach me. I will dedicate a good amount of time to time to learn this language because I believe in China's economic potential. I am currently reading a book called Learning Chinese Characters in order to get an early start but I think having a tutor will greatly help me. I am looking for a teacher for 1 on 1 live in person and that lives in Montreal. I need to get proficient and I am a very fast learner since I speak 4 languages fluently and I have a base in a couple more.
