My husband is Bengali and we are expecting our first child September of this year. I am not a native Bengali speaker but want to learn to be able to reinforce the language and culture with our baby as I'm a stay at home mother. I speak 4 languages so can pick it up quickly. I'm a native English speaker and do not speak any other languages. My boyfriend is a first generation American and his parents speak little English. I would like to learn to speak Bengali conversationa lly in order to meet and communicate with them. I'm looking to dedicate once a week to my language lessons. I'm seeking a teacher who is a native Bengali speaker, but also speaks English well, and will be as committed as I am to teaching me the language. I would also like it if he/she could provide me with homework or resources to practice on my own.

I'm looking for a Bangla teacher to teach me on Skype a couple of times a week. I'm a PhD student in the US and will be traveling to Bengal soon to conduct research. I need to be able to have fairly high-level conversations in Bangla. I don't know any Bangla, but I am proficient in Hindi as well as Sanskrit.
