Greetings,
I have taken french for many years in high school and college. That, however, was 20 some odd years ago. This year I began to review french in preparation for a trip to France from which I have just returned.
Bottom line; trip was fantastic, review definately helped, and most importantly, I am a very long way from being able to converse with a french native.
I have made this a goal, however, and am interested in weekly private lessons.

I am very interested in learning the Armenian language. I am Armenian myself, but have lost all of my fluency and comprehension since attendind an Armenian school in California 15 years ago. I grew up with Russian being spoken in the home, so I have not been able to retain any Aremenian, except for a few phrases. I would definitely put myself in the beginners category, needing instruction in all facets of the language. As for my motivations, I simply want to become more intimite with my culture. I am also studying Political Science/Econo mics and Comparative Islamic Studies at the University of Washington, and think that proficiency in an another language could be helpful for my future job prospects. Since I will be a full-time student for the remainder of spring, my ideal time to begin instruction would be during this coming summer. I can go into further detail about my availability upon request. In regards to lessons and teacher, I would hope that lessons are dynamic in the sense that they cover and are balanced between grammer and conversation. Of course teaching experience is a major consideration for me when it comes to an instructor, but so is the ability to be patient and encouraging. I have no illusions about the task of learning a new language, and hope that my teacher will be both assertive and encouraging in my learning.
