My proficiency level for tagalog is at a beginnger even though I have been around it for my whole life. I am Fil-Am Half filipino and half american. I visited the Philippines this past summer and I think i will do study abroad there for a semester. My mother always speaks it along with my titas and titos and my Lola. I would really like to learn the language of my mother and be able to converse with her and all of my family better. When ever we have parties there are lots of Filipinos and they all speak tagalog. It will also help with my career aspects as I am a International Studies major and last of all I love the Philippines!! !

My husband and I are American Serbs. My parents are originally from Belgrade and I am first generation American. I grew up speaking Serbian and am struggling to keep it up. My husband is a second generation Serb and doesn't know Serbian very well but is anxious to learn. We have tried to take language classes at our church but the timing hasn't worked out. I wanted to get him language classes for Christmas and wanted to inquire about pricing, availability, teacher's experience, etc.

My husband and I are both beginners looking to learn Japanese for personal and business reasons. My husband's grandmother was from Japan and regaining part of his Japanese heritage is important him. I will be starting law school fall of 2007 and I would like to be somewhat proficient in Japanese by this time as specializatio n always sets one apart from others. My husband and I want to take lessons together. We know that if we learn together we will continue to speak to each other around the house and help each other practice :)
