I'm a beginner, now my father has passed away I find I can't talk to half of my family or deal with things in Cyprus and Greece that need attending to. I'd probably have weekly lessons, but my work is very intensive so I don't have a lot of time. I am not a natural foreign language speaker, I find it very difficult to pick up so my teacher needs to be very patient with me, good humoured and not condescending . I want to learn, I'm just not very good at it and have very low confidence.

I wish to learn Chinese Mandarin as I hope to move to Beijing within the next 18-24 months.
I feel I need particular involvement in conversation so I can have good pronunciation and a decent vocabulary.
As I will be studying for an Honours Degree between September 2005 and June 2006, I would only be looking to meet my tutor for two hours a week- times would need to be arranged, but I expect a weekday evening would be most convenient for me.
I am looking for a teacher who is pleasant, friendly and who will allow me to work at my own pace.
