I am a beginner in the Portuguese language. Though I have traveled to Lisbon four times in the last five years, I still know very little. I do know some very basics, and can seem to understand the language better than I can speak it. I want to learn Portuguese to better communicate with my friends in Portugal, even though they speak English quite well. I feel this is an important step to be able to communicate with them in their language as well. I am interested in conversationa l Portuguese to start, but am open to instruction. I am willing to dedicate a couple of hours per week to lessons as well as more time on practice.

I am in a Portuguese group of Jehovah's witnesses. We are soon to be a congregation. I have been learning Portuguese for a little over a year. I can read it fairly well and understand most of what I hear. I am very shy about speaking. I need help with making conversation and building my confidence. I live in North Austin, but work in South Austin so either will work.
