I am a New Zealander and I want to learn Afrikaans for future career posibilities in Africa. I know one or two words so I am obviously a beginner. Primarily, I would like to learn conversationa l Afrikaans because being able to speak the language is more important at the moment than being able to write it. I can dedicate as much time as I need to learning the language, and at least one day a week. I would prefer a teacher whos native language is Afrikaans so that I can pick up on natural accent and I learn best in person, although the lessons do not have to be one on one.

I spent 2 months volunteer teaching English in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia last year and would like to return for a longer period of time with the possibility of aquiring a paid position, for which I would need at least basic written and conversationa l Amharic.
I can say a few basic sentences in Amharic, but not enough to hold a conversation, and have no understanding of the written language.
I need to improve in everything.
I would prefer to have lessons once a week, but am more than willing to dedicate as much time as necessary to practising.
I would prefer my teacher to be from Ethiopia, however this is not essential.
