I have been traveling to the Czech Republic since 1992 and wish to spend more time there, both for personal and business purposes. All my friends there are native. It is essential that I learn to speak Czech to feel more at home there. The depth and complexity of the language and literature fascinate me.
I know a smattering of Czech words and phrases, and I am beginning to study using the book Czech Step-by-Step.
I would like to study intensively, a few times a week.

I am a beginner with fully Czech maternal ancestry. I would very much be able to visit the land of my forbears as well as to be able to read the vibrant literature and paricipate in the culture of what is now the Czech Republic. I live in Modesto CA and work three to four days per week in Sacramento, allowing me to pursue lessons in either locale. In addition, given the obvious lack of teachers of the Czech language, I would be willing to consider travel to the San Francisco Bay area or other sites within a reasonable distance.

I am seeing someone from Slovakia so would like to quickly obtain a grasp of either Slovak or Czech so I can speak more easily with her & her family. I currently can speak only a few words!
I could devote an evening or two per week to learning or could perhaps come to some agreement over renting a room in my house to a Slovak/Czech for a period of time.
