I am interested in learning Korean for a few reasons. First of all, I am new to the city of Vancouver, I come from Saskatoon where there is not a lot of other cultures to interact with. When I moved here, I decided it was time to try to learn another language to expand my horizons. I took beginner spanish and I can now speak a small amount of spanish. However, I decided that Korean would be a more useful language to learn living in Vancouver. I also would like to have a career in human rights and international relations law. Therefore the more languages that I know the better off that I will be. Lastly, my boyfriend is korean. I am very interested in his culture and I am very enthusiastic about learning more about it. His family primarily speaks korean and therefore it would create a way to better communicate with them.
I have not had a lot of exposure to the language, aside from the fact that my boyfriend speaks korean on a daily basis. He has taught me a very small amount, but I figured I needed professional help to fully understand the language.
I am most concerned with basic conversation. I want to be able to understand and speak basic korean with the people around me. I would like to be able to write it, and to understand the grammar, but I feel that conversation is most important for me.
I will dedicate as much time as needed to learning korean. However I am a student during the fall and spring semesters, and I work full time during the summer, but I feel that I still have enough free time to fully immerse myself in this.
I am looking for a teacher that is understanding , I know learning a new language can be frustrating, and even more frustrating for someone who is teaching it. I also want someone who will push me as much as needed, but realize that I do have other priorities in my life as well.

I would like to learn Korean because my parents are actually immigrants from Seoul-and although they both know Korean, I never learned it as a child. My father is now dead and I no longer live with my mom, so it's very hard for me to be exposed to the language now. I'm sick and tired of being the only person in the family who can't speak Korean-so if some one could help me, that'd be great!
I don't know how proficient I am...I've heard Korean all my life. I can understand conversationa l Korean, I can read (but I usually don't know what it means). I can kind of talk...that's about it.
I need help in grammar, reading, writing, and conversation.
I would like to dedicate 1 hour a week to lessons in person, because I feel with my family supporting me I can get a lot of help from them outside of class hours.
I am looking for some one who's willing to work with me. I learn fast when it comes to other languages, but in Korean I seem to have some problems. I need some one who's patient, who can explain things to me well, but also some one who is willing to change their pace at times to accomodate me (I learn fast on some things, slow on other things).

I am just currently trying to find some way to learn Korean. I have been listening to a lot of korean pop music and watching a lot of variety shows. I would LOVE to be able to understand them without having to wait for the subs.
