Hello,
My name is Daniel, and I am originally from Scotland, but attempting to settle here in South Africa.
I have been here in Pretoria now since 2007, but am ashamed to admit that I have not picked up enough Afrikaans in that time in order to speak it. I know a few basic lines of course, like greetings, 'Hoe gaan dit?', bakkie, braai, lekker, etc., but not much beyond that.
As I am planning to settle here in the long-term, I would very much like to learn to speak Afrikaans at least comfortably and understandabl y if not fluently. I'm an absolute beginner and not naturally very good with languages, I don't have a great ear for them, so forgive me if I seem to be a slow student but I will do my best. I can do lessons over skype or in person, in a group or one-on-one, and I can be flexible in regards to the hours.
Of course I appreciate the great value of the lessons you may offer me, but I should let you know right off that I do nonprofit work full time and thus do not have a lot of extra cash to throw around. So if you are able to offer me any lessons at less than exorbitant prices, it would be greatly appreciated.
