I am a college sophomore in my first year of learning Modern Standard Arabic. I want to increase my proficiency as much as possible. I hope to improve my vocabulary, reading, writing, and speaking skills. I am looking for someone that will conduct private lessons with me this summer (June-August 2006), perhaps meeting once a week or every other week. Dear Mr. Idris--
I am hoping that you are still taking students for study of the Arabic Language. I studied three intensive semesters of Arabic at Washington Academy of Languages, and am interested in continuing my studies. I am studying language to addend my career ambitions which are in the realm of international development/p olicy analysis, but am genuinely interested in language, and the process of learning languages.
I need about an hour a week, only, with a set of homework. Basically I need to do some upkeep. I would probably try to ameliorate my Arabic, then go into an intensive course over the summer to accelerate my learning.
This is my plan of attack. I learn best by understanding the roots and the ways that they can be altered to form different parts of speach. I think Arabic is a very logical and poetic language, and I am interested in the insight this gives me into the minds of those for whom it is the maternal language.
