I am learning tagalog in order to stay close to my filopino heritage. My proficiency is at the beginner stage but I can understand the language when spoken to.
I need help in converstaiona l tagalog and more so in grammer.
I want to dedicate as much time needed in order to become completley fluent.
Qual ities im interested in when it comes to a teacher are teaching methods that are relatable to the students best way of learning. Since I do want to learn grammer as well, testing grammatical skills as well as practicing it are key for me.

I understand tagalog but there are some words that I'm unaware of. I feel like a child when I try to speak tagalog. It's very broken.

I am looking to visit the Philippines later this year (perhaps the spring, and was wanting to learn some of the native language for when I go. I know a few words from a book purchased, but really, I'm a real beginner in this. Mostly looking for basic conversationa l understanding , to get by while there. Books are great, but they don't have 'mouths' for your ears to 'feel' the sound of the language with.
Depending on the length of the lessons and the cost, I am looking to do anywhere from 4 - 12 hours a week.
As I live in Ottawa, some form of verbal feedback on pronunciation would likely be best. Thus in person, or via Skype seem to be what I could do for now.

I want to learn Tagalog because my girlfriend is Filipino. We are serious in our relationship and I want to know how to talk to her friends, family and one day our children. It's very important to me but I am at the beginner level. I need to be taught everything, words, phrases and more or less how to understand the language. We are going to the Philippines next April so I have roughly 1 year to learn as much as possible. I'm looking for a teacher (male or female) who has patience and likes teaching. I'm serious and very dedicated to learning this language and so far I haven't been able to find a school/privat e tutor.
