I am just beginning in my understanding of the Thai system of writing and conversation. I have recently purchased a book by Benjawan Poomsan Becker. She says that it is important to hear the correct pronunciation , so a teacher (or tapes) are crucial.
Ear lier this year I completed a meditation course and a retreat to Intanon Mountain. I am a student of philosophy and would like to one day deepen my understanding of Thai thinking by reading and discussing Thai literature.
I am very busy with a wife & three children, a fledgling non-profit society and a health care practice but I will devote at least half an hour per day to study and practice and a 1 hour lesson per week.
I do not have a lot of money but will make this a priority. I am a registered massage therapist, skilled painter and capable mason. I offer all of these skills for barter if the teacher is agreeable. Otherwise, I will meet the fee-for-servi ce of $20/hour for beginners.

I have been in Thailand for nearly a year and have been trying to teach myself some Thai! I am looking to have proper lessons when I return to the UK next month? I would like to study one evening a week. I would like to be able to speak and understand Thai.
