I'm definitely a beginner in the language. I've always wanted to learn Gaelic and I'm planning a vacation to Scotland for June 2006 so I would at least like to have a grasp of the language by then. I work full time and I'm also a full time graduate student so this would be something I would do on the weekends. I would like to do audio and bookwork on my own and have the teacher correct my work, help me with my pronunciation , and basically tell me what I'm doing wrong, so this can be done by phone or voice chat in conjunction with email. I'm currently taking online classes for my Masters degree so I'm very comfortable communicating and completing coursework at a distance.

I speak Arabic, Russian, Dutch, and would like to learn french and Mandarin. My Arabic is intermediate, Russian is intermediate (I have forgotten a lot), Dutch intermediate. I study all of these languages and require teachers who are skilled at teaching without using much english.

I visited Japan and i am very impressed w/ the pride, kindness and humility of its people therefor i would like to make an attempt at learning this language. I need teaching from the basics, unfortunatly. =)
My goal is to become proficient enough so i can get proper directions to the bathroom. Actually, I would like to learn enough to exist in Japan for extended periods of time.
