The reason I want to learn Japanese is for my possible career and for the experience of learning something new. I am a beginner. I don't comprehend much of the language. I am looking for help in writing, reading, and speaking. Overall, I would like to become fluent or familiar with the language. I would like to dedicate about two hours every day in hope to learn. I would prefer a teacher who in forces accent comprehension and will push me to speak, read, and write with utmost accuracy. I also would like a teacher who can speak my own language, english, fluently because as a beginner much assistance is needed.

My husband is Chinese and his family speaks Cantonese. He can understand the language but is not fluent in speaking. I can say a couple of phrases and words and that's about it. We are having a family soon and I would like us to be able to understand and speak Cantonese. So I guess I am seeking general conversationa l skills, the kinds of things people say on a daily basis, like talking to people about weather, health, eating, shopping, etc.

Hello Ying, I am very interested in learning how to speak Mandarin. I just returned from a two-week trip to China, my first, and I have a volunteer-tra vel organization that will send teachers to China, so I want to be able to speak to Chinese people on future trips, and just continue to learn about the culture and different parts of the country.
