I have had seven years of French in High School, however memory has faded badly. I have spend the last three months in Paris, but I did not really get into the language at all. Now there is a job opportunity for which i require to speak French well. So, I thought to seek a person-to-per son education here in Phoenix. I need the teacher to straighten out my French salad, converse with me and teach me grammar for assay writing. I will try to dedicate two to three weekly sessions, if this is possible I still will have to see.

I am intending to move to Vang Vieng, Laos in a few years and would like to build as much language skill as possible before I arrive. As it is a tonal language, I feel it is important to have access to a native/fluent speaker to attempt to learn acceptable pronunciation . Lao will be challenging for a westerner I'm sure, but any vocabulary, pronunciation , and grammar skill I can ingest before hand are bound to be benificial.

I have no experience in Malayalam aside from the few words I have picked up from my boyfriend's parents. However, I have extensive background in other languages (Greek, Latin, German) and am used to the challenge of learning a language.
I am interested in learning Malayalam because my boyfriend and I will be getting married in about a year or so and I would like to be able to speak more easily with his family and their friends. All of them are Keralites. My boyfriend never learned, but he can understand -- otherwise, I'd have him teach me.
I am most interested in conversationa l skills first, but I also enjoy looking at the structure of a language. I am willing to devote several hours a week to lessons.
I know that Malayalam has a separate alphabet, which I would also like to learn, and that the grammar is very complicated. I don't have any specific types of lessons in mind -- I'm just looking for an easygoing teacher who is comfortable enough with Malayalam to teach someone else about it.
