I am a student at York University. I live in North York with my boyfriend who is portuguese. He is able to speak portuguese but unable to teach me. His whole family speaks portuguese and i wish to learn.
I am an extreme beginner and i can understand some words but not many.
I am looking for a teacher who is flexible and teaches me more verbal skills than written.
I wish to have lessons once to three times a week either in small classes or one on one.

The person in need of lessons is my daughter. She's only 5 years old e I'd like her to learn my native language which is Portuguese (Brazil). I'd rather have her participate on group lessons if possible. She knows basics and understands more than she speaks.It's important to me and for her because my entire family lives in Brazil and speaks portuguese only, so they often have a hard time communicating with her. Please advise me of someone or some place where she can take lessons; preferably not too far from where we're located (Haverhill, MA).

Im a highschool graduate with hopes to travel Brazil at some time in the near future. To do this I need to know the common language and I also feel a desire to learn now that Im no longer in school. I wish to persue these lessons until I feel comfortable speaking the language. I am seeking beginer lessons. I am looking for small classes with lots of in depth explainations of sentence structure, grammar and one on one conversations . I wish to persue this goal as soon as possible.

I have been studying Portuguese for about a year at home using books, cd's, cassettes, BBC Open Learning etc and consider my proficiency level as somewhere between beginner and improver.
I am studying Portuguese for personal fulfilment, and because I love the country and the language.
I am most keen to improve my conversationa l skills and vocabulary, but out of necessity grammar as well. My aim is to speak the language when in Portugal and make myself understood as much as possible.
I would wish to spend around 2 hours per week on live learning.
I would be looking for interesting, informative lessons tailored to an agreed level of progress, but not too serious!
