I don't know a word of Brazilian Portuguese. I used to speak Spanish almost proficiently many years ago (in high school). I am very proficient in French and I am fluent in Dutch. I want my teacher to be very open and supportive and warm and focus on conversation and pronunciation and vocabulary (and grammar obviously but I think my background in romance languages might help in that area). I want to travel and possibly work in Brazil...I am a law student so the only chance I would get to go to Brazil would be to work and to work there, I have to speak the language. So, I want to learn enough to be able to at least START working and then become more proficient as I am immersed.

I am an American who will be staying in Alphaville from October 1 to November 17 tentatively. I would like to take this opportunity to learn Portuguese for my own personal development, and to make the most of my time here in Brazil. I am a beginner who is completely new to Portuguese.
