I am seeking to learn Hindi so I may apply to Indian Studies Graduate Programs and as a personal goal. My proficiency level is almost null, knowing only a handful of words. I want to learn to read and write and converse fluently. The amount of time spent will be determined by myself and by the teacher, but at least once a week. 2-3 times would be ideal. I am looking for someone that will challenge me and teach me efficiently.

I want to learn Hindi first and foremost because it is the main language spoken in India. I only know Bengali which is only spoken in Kolkata and nearby areas.
Conversat ion. I only want to learn how to speak Hindi.
I really want to perfect Hindi in this coming month. I will spend as much time as I have to.
I look for a challenging teacher but who also likes to have fun and can find interesting ways to teach the subject material.

I was a peace Corps Volunteer, who lived in a village near Jaipur, Rajasthan during 1968 to 1970. I learned Hindi while residing in the village. When I completed my tour, I returned to complet my undergraduate degree at Kansa State University. I had the chance to take Hindi courses while at the University. Unfortunately , as the years past, I've had little opportunites to speak Hindi.
I am now retired and desire to live in India for a minimum of a year, preferably in Jaipur and study Hindi. I would spend most of the day studying the language.
