I am a beginner who wants to learn Dutch in order to study at the University of Amsterdam. I eventually want to work at the Van Gough Museum. I have a background in German, which will probably help a little. I probably will need help in conversation. As much time as you are willing, I will take. I am a native English speaker (American), curently working on a doctoral degree, and am interested in learning to read and speak Dutch for academic purposes. I am interested in learning the basics of grammar, pronunciation , etc., with a primary need learning to read and translate (with dictionary help) scholarly articles in my research, so a familiarity with academic research would be helpful, but not essential. I have stusied German for many years and am relatively fluent in it.

I am a 28-year old doctor and want to work one year in Holland, starting september 2004.
Unfort unately I have unregular timetables, so probably private lessons will be necessary, although I would prefer lessons in little groups.
