I wanted to learn Mandarin and Japaneses to benefit me and I want to learn Korean because I would like to live in South Korea after college. I am now focusing on leaning Korean and I would like to begin from the very beginning. I would like to spend at least 1 hour on each lesson. I expect for my teacher to be well prepared and organized also someone who is easy to get along with and someone who had good learning ethics or strategies.

I am interested in learning Korean for a few reasons. First of all, I am new to the city of Vancouver, I come from Saskatoon where there is not a lot of other cultures to interact with. When I moved here, I decided it was time to try to learn another language to expand my horizons. I took beginner spanish and I can now speak a small amount of spanish. However, I decided that Korean would be a more useful language to learn living in Vancouver. I also would like to have a career in human rights and international relations law. Therefore the more languages that I know the better off that I will be. Lastly, my boyfriend is korean. I am very interested in his culture and I am very enthusiastic about learning more about it. His family primarily speaks korean and therefore it would create a way to better communicate with them.
I have not had a lot of exposure to the language, aside from the fact that my boyfriend speaks korean on a daily basis. He has taught me a very small amount, but I figured I needed professional help to fully understand the language.
I am most concerned with basic conversation. I want to be able to understand and speak basic korean with the people around me. I would like to be able to write it, and to understand the grammar, but I feel that conversation is most important for me.
I will dedicate as much time as needed to learning korean. However I am a student during the fall and spring semesters, and I work full time during the summer, but I feel that I still have enough free time to fully immerse myself in this.
I am looking for a teacher that is understanding , I know learning a new language can be frustrating, and even more frustrating for someone who is teaching it. I also want someone who will push me as much as needed, but realize that I do have other priorities in my life as well.

As I find myself dealing with Korean people more frequently at work I believe it would be expedient for my career and business prospects to be fluent in the language, at least at a conversationa l level initially.
I have not had lessons before and will be a beginner.
When learning languages before I have found that internalising the grammatical structure before intensively learning vocabulary through conversation is a very effective method, but I would of course take any recommended method from the tutor.
I would like to dedicate a solid amount of time to learn fairly intensively and am initially thinking of having lessons twice a week at my office in Central which I would consider upping to three depending on time and goals.
All I look for in a teacher is an easygoing personality which I know will lead to enjoyable lessons!

I am an investment professional and have travelled extensively throughout Asia. I have visited Seoul and would like to work there someday in the financial industry. My proficiency level is that of a beginner but I am motivated to learn Korean and have the discipline to make substantial progress in a short time. I have taught myself the Korean alphabet. I can dedicate 5-7 hours a week studying but will do more if that is what it takes to learn the language well enough to conduct business. I would like a teacher that has a well thought out plan for teaching me and can also instruct me on cultural issues of importance in Korea that will assist me when I travel and live there.
