To whom this may concern,
I am a high school student in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. I have been exposed to Afrikaans for over a year now and have an extreme interest in learning it. I have pursued studies online and on my own; however I have not been successful in finding a complete and competent learning resource. One excellent resource I have found is 'Wil jy Afrikaans leer?' by Jacques du Plessis. I would classify myself as a beginner however I have begun to slowly learn the basics. I would be willing to study Afrikaans on my own time after school or during the summer. I am looking for a teacher who is willing to work with me to provide specialized lesson plans and ongoing support in my studies. I realize that due to my location there may not be much chance for lesson in person but I am open to other online options including the possibility of video conferencing.

I would be a beginner and would like to learn afrikaans, as well as my brother. I/we want to learn it because my fathers family side are all south african and although my dad cant speak it my grandpa and lots of family in south africa do. Also me and my brother think it would be cool since we could talk about whatever and no one else would no what we are talking about.Basical y just learning reading and speaking, but not writing as much, maybe just a little but not as much. I would like to have the lessons in the summer but as soon as possible would be fine, and spending as anything like 10 hrs a week or something, its the summer so it doesnt matter as much. Qualities in a techer are simplely able to speak afrikaans and good english, as well as a good hearted teacher who doesnt mind jokes and a little fooling around.
