Hello,
I am a Software Engineer by profession. Foreign cultures and its diversity has always intrigued me. It's not surprising since I was born in a country (India) with a culture and customs that are varied, diverse, colourful and ancient. I have a
heart that discerns knowledge and ears that seek out for wisdom. And what better way to grow as a human being than to learn about other cultures. After all, life is too short and we live in a trouble world that needs compassion and understanding of our fellow human beings. My goal is to learn at least 3 foreign languages; Italian, Portuguese and French.
And I hope to find teachers who first and foremost are passionate and excited about teaching and who will teach me not just the language but also the arts, customs, social etiquettes, etc.

Sorry this ad is so long, but I am looking for something very specific!
I am looking for a native speaker of Italian who would be willing to tutor me for 1 1/2 hours twice a month. I want to learn Italian simply because I love the language! I enjoy opera, and I do intend to travel to Italy from time to time. Learning foreign languages is my hobby! I already speak French and Spanish quite well, and I studied Latin in high school years ago. So, I feel well equipped to learn Italian without too much difficulty!
I consider myself to be an 'advanced beginner' in Italian.
I am looking for someone who would be very flexible and who would continue the approach I used with my previous (excellent) Italian tutor. Since I have a very good background in Romance languages already, I would like a tutor who will allow me to move as quickly as I can.
This is how my former tutor and I worked together. For every lesson, I would do independent study on my own, write a 'composazione ' and have him correct it. We would then talk together in Italian and he would explain in both Italian and English. This was a very effective approach. I did most of the work -- that is how I learn! The only thing he had to do was to be with me, talking and correcting me, patiently, for 1 1/2 hours. I didn't expect him to prepare anything at all! This worked very, very well. And, also, we both had fun!
I also need someone with whom I could work during the day. (In the evenings I need to be home with my family.) It could be in the evening, if the teacher would come to my home.
I am a lady in my fifties and am open to any intelligent, motivated, native speaker who knows his/her language well and will be patient. I am a quick study and I catch on fast! My last tutor was a 25-year-old Italian man who was taking university classes here. Our lessons worked extremely well, and the age difference was no problem at all - we both had FUN! He is moving out of the area now and that is why I am looking for a new teacher. So I am open to anyone, any age!
I am most interested to continue my studies in Italian. Please contact me if you are interested in taking on an assignment like this!

I have lived in Italy for 3 months and would like to further my italian laungauge skills to become fluent. I am still a beggnier, i would like to help my skills in conversation reading and writing.
